Madeleine Kendris
Filmmaker and Production Designer

About the Artist
I am a filmmaker based in Boston, MA. I specialize in immersive world-building and storytelling. I will be graduating in May 2026 from Emerson College with a BA in Media Arts Production and a minor in Art History. I wrote, produced, and directed an independent short film about mental health at 19, and I have future directorial projects in the works. Outside of directing and producing, I have spent my college career gaining expertise in production design. I have been the production designer for several student BFA capstone films, an MFA capstone music video, and my own capstone project, Waiting.

I work with producers to find filming locations, or I design sets and lead their installation in a soundstage. I am experienced in communicating with different teams on each project and coordinating the logistics needed to bring the designs to life.

I also believe that social change can be made through the work of filmmakers. I have one completed short film about mental health, and I have a documentary-style short film in the works. I want to experiment in different genres, but above all, I want to create art that makes a difference. Even Waiting, a surrealist horror short, is holding a fundraiser with 100% of the proceeds going to ASISTA.

My career is only in its infancy, but there are so many pathways I could take. I am so excited to keep expanding my knowledge and experience in filmmaking and meet new people while I do it. I have some of my projects shown below, check them out, and I hope you enjoy :)
